Working Title began as a name on a café door. For the people who knew the former Singapore restaurant, it may bring to mind burgers, coffee and time spent around a table. This website is a different project: an independent lifestyle journal inspired by that cultural memory, not an official continuation of the restaurant business.
The café chapter
A 2013 review in NUSSU The Ridge described a small café on the first floor of Shophouse The Social Hostel on Arab Street. Its mismatched furniture, courtyard, Wi-Fi and power points made room for locals and visitors to spend time rather than simply eat and leave.
CNN’s historical Arab Street feature also described Working Title beneath a travellers lodge and as a place to meet friends. Those reports are snapshots of the past. They are not current recommendations or statements about businesses operating today.
The burger memory
The September 2024 website advertised freshly made burgers, brunch and coffee at LASALLE. That straightforward food identity remains a useful point of recognition. But an appetite-led beginning does not mean that the old menu was a health-food menu, and we do not make that claim.
For this journal, good food means enjoyment as well as thoughtfulness. We can talk about a burger and also talk about vegetables, a regular meal, a calmer lunch break or the kitchen in a shared home. The connection is everyday life, not a promise that one meal can change it.
A restaurant chapter that has ended
AsiaOne and the SethLui closure report identified 30 April 2026 as the former restaurant’s final day. This site does not offer food service, table reservations or delivery, and it should not be understood as a restaurant reopening.
We are not affiliated with the former restaurant or its owners. The historical connection is acknowledged as inspiration only. The new website has its own editorial purpose.
The journal chapter
Working Title now brings together five themes: Good Food, Healthy Living, Healthy Working, Co-Living, and Neighbourhood & Community. Each asks a different version of the same question: what could make an ordinary day more considered?
We look for useful detail rather than perfection. A guide might help you choose a workspace, think through a shared home or find a more manageable weekday routine. A neighbourhood story might give you a reason to slow down and learn something about the place around you.
The journal does not operate co-living properties, co-working spaces or community events. Our articles are editorial information, not listings or booking services.
How we publish
We distinguish factual information from editorial suggestions and provide source links for important claims. Historical material is identified as historical. Health and housing content is general information, not personalised medical or legal advice.
Our unbranded food, home, park and work scenes are AI-generated editorial illustrations. They are not photographs of real places reviewed by our writers. The credited Sultan Mosque image is a historical photograph by Erwin Soo, taken in 2012.
If an article needs correcting, or you have a thoughtful story suggestion, email [email protected]. Include the page URL and enough detail for us to understand your message. Good conversations, like good days, often begin with a little attention.
